Volunteer registrations for the 2011 Global Carnival have now closed. Thank-you to all our applicants, we will be in contact regarding your application by September 2.
Welcome to the Volunteer registration page and thank-you for considering being one.
This is where you sign up to become part of the special team of people who construct, present, maintain and dismantle the festival.
Your festival experience will be distinctly different from simply exchanging money for a festival ticket – what you put in and what you get back exists outside of that and in truth, money could never buy it. You become the life blood of the event and are literally at the heart of its being with long lasting friendship and a sense of family becoming an invaluable added extra to the whole experience.
There is also a serious side to volunteering as the success of the festival and the health, safety and wellbeing of other volunteers is dependant on everyone doing what they say they will do when they say they’re going to do it. It’s critical that reliability, care and consideration are made priorities in our work and commitment to each other and this only serves to improve the festival experience for all crew as well as the audience and artists.
How it Works
To become part of the Global team of volunteers, you are required to work:
- a minimum of three days during the pre-Carnival period OR
- four x 4hr shifts during the Carnival period OR
- a minimum of three days during the post-Carnival period (pack-down)
In return, you will receive a weekend pass to the Carnival, a midday meal on the days you work, a Carnival t-shirt and access to the crew room with tea, coffee and other beverages.
First time volunteers will be required to pay a bank cheque or money-order bond of $90 at volunteer induction on Friday 30 September. This will be returned to you once you complete your shifts. For more information, please refer to our Volunteer Terms & Conditions.
