Volunteer Terms & Conditions

To apply to volunteer, you must agree to the Terms & Conditions listed below.

Once you have read the Terms, scroll to the Agreement at the bottom of the page, click ‘I agree’ and then ‘Apply to Volunteer’ and you will be taken to our online application form.

Volunteer Entitlements

Ticket entry *

*Value $240

A volunteer ticket allows one person entry to the festival. It does not entitle any friends or family to enter

Occasionally volunteers work for more than one ticket and in this instance all shifts must be assigned and tickets/names allocated prior to the festival.

For all other members of your group who are not volunteers, tickets must be purchased through the normal channels. Please check our website for points of sale and availability. Any other ticket allocation can only be made via the Festival Admin – madamglobal@globalcarnival.com

Meals*

*Value $12 per meal

Volunteers only receive meals free of charge

  • Pre-Carnival: You are entitled a midday meal on the days you work.
  • During Carnival: You will be entitled to a midday meal on the days you work a double-shift (two x 4 hour shifts in one day).

    T-shirts*

    *Value $25

Volunteers only are provided with T-shirts free of charge

    TOTAL VOLUNTEER VALUE: $301

    Camping

Camping at the festival does not form part of the volunteer exchange and not all volunteers need or want to camp but for those who do, there will be a $30 charge for camping during the festival.

Due to limited space, local volunteers are requested to sleep in their own beds at home unless really impractical.

Volunteers can camp on site the night before their first shift starts but not before.

    Paid crew

Occasionally some volunteers work longer than the standard benchmark and in this instance may receive additional tickets or equitable remuneration provided the necessary hours for their ticket, meals and t-shirt have first been completed. By entering into this spirit of things we maintain fairness, equity, warmth and trust amongst each other.

PLEASE NOTE: For those being paid for work beyond their voluntary hours; the caterers need to know numbers ahead of time so PLEASE DO NOT TURN UP AND EXPECT TO EAT if you haven’t made a prior arrangement with the festival and are therefor not entitled. It leads to uncomfortable feelings for everyone and people go hungry when they shouldn’t. Remember, the rule of thumb is:- Volunteers receive meals free of charge whilst volunteering.
