VOLUNTEERS

TASKS OF A VOLUNTEER
It would be impossible to stage the carnival without our wonderfull volunteers. Up to 200 volunteers are required to produce a successfull carnival and are used in all areas and aspects needed to stage the event. They are assigned specific tasks in a variety of areas after consultation with the volunteer co-ordinator and are needed in the weeks before and after the festival as well as over the festival weekend. Free onsite camping is available for all volunteers and a midday meal is provided while working.volunteers

Pre-Festival - 3x8hr days
Stage and marquee construction
Site construction
Office Work
Art dept. (site / stage decoration)

Carnival Weekend - 4X4hr shifts (staggered so you can see most of the festival)
Gates/Ticketing
Merchandise
Stage Management.
Rubbish/Recycle Detail
Office
Traffic Control (RTA Ticket pref.)
Trouble shooting (Product./Site)
Workshop Management.

Post Carnival - 5 days
Pulling down Marquees/Stages/Site
Rubbish Detail/ Site clean up

Volunteer/Crew/Artist Lounge
A crew room with tea,coffee,ice water, bickies is provided where volunteers can relax chat and enjoy lunch in comfort. Volunteering is great fun. It's good to share in the feeling of accomplishment. Get behind the scenes and see how it all comes together. In return each volunteer receives: Full weekend pass, camping, Global Carnival crew t-shirt and midday meals on each working day. Post Carnival Volunteers can pre-purchase a pass which is re-funded when shifts are finished. There is also paid work availabale in the post carnival period if you are interested in this option
